Your PAN should contain current and valid information. So in case of any changes in your details like communication address, middle name or surname etc. you need to submit a request for change or correction in PAN data so that the Income Tax Department’s database is updated with current details.
You need to apply for correction in PAN along with submission of valid proof of date of birth.
You can get a duplicate PAN in case you have lost the original one. You need to know your PAN number to apply for the duplicate PAN. So in case you don’t remember the PAN number, you can simply use this tool and find out your PAN by entering first name, middle name, last name and date of birth.
A person can not hold more than one PAN. If a PAN is already allocated to a person then he cannot apply for obtaining another PAN. A penalty of Rs. 10,000/- is imposed on person for having more than one PAN. So if you are having more than one PAN then you should immediately surrender the additional PAN card(s).
